Parallelüberlieferungen</h4>In dieser Ausgabe werden sowohl unter den Abschnittsüberschriften als auch am Außenrand Hinweise auf Parallelüberlieferungen und auf verwandte Texte oder auch auf Einzelworte angeführt.<br>Unter den Abschnittsüberschriften werden die Texte aus dem Alten oder dem Neuen Testament angegeben, die auch der sprachlichen Form nach derselben Überlieferungsgruppe zugehören.<br>Hinter dem Bibeltext eines jeden Verses werden Stellen aus dem Alten und Neuen Testament angeführt, an denen sich inhaltlich, zum Teil auch formal, gleichartige oder verwandte Texte finden (sog. Sachparallelen). Im Neuen Testament finden sich daneben Hinweise auf die Texte, die entweder als wörtliche Zitate (diese sind je kursiv gesetzt) oder als Anspielungen dem Alten Testament entnommen sind oder dieses frei zitieren.<br>Durch diese Verweise lässt sich der Prozess des Wachsens und der Ausgestaltung der biblischen Überlieferung leichter erfassen; zugleich tritt die innere Einheit und die gedankliche, stilistische und sprachliche Vielfalt der biblischen Schriften, vor allem jener des Neuen Testaments, deutlich hervor.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">K2V1</span><h3>II. DIE TEXTVORLAGEN DER EINHEITSÜBERSETZUNG</h3><h4>A. Der Text des Alten Testaments</h4><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">KA</span><h5>1. Der hebräische Text</h5>Der Einheitsübersetzung liegt für die hebräisch überlieferten Schriften der hebräische Text des Alten Testaments zugrunde, der sog. Masoretische Text. Er geht in seiner heutigen Fassung im Wesentlichen auf die sorgfältige Arbeit jüdischer Gelehrter, der sog. Masoreten, zurück. Sie bemühten sich zwischen dem 6. und 10. Jahrhundert n. Chr. um die Wiederherstellung und Sicherung der ältesten Textfassung der Bücher des Alten Testaments. Um 100 n. Chr. lag der hebräische Konsonantentext in Palästina vor; er entspricht im Wesentlichen dem Text, der schon 100 v. Chr. verbreitet war. Weil die Juden, wie andere semitische Völker, nur die Konsonanten (Mitlaute) schrieben, die Vokale (Selbstlaute) aber nur sehr ungenau andeuteten, schufen die Masoreten zwischen 600 und 900 n. Chr. mit Hilfe von Strichen und Punkten über und unter den Konsonantenbuchstaben Vokalzeichen. Diesen »vokalisierten« oder »punktierten« Text nennt man den masoretischen Text. Die wissenschaftliche Forschung der Textüberlieferungen und neuere Funde von vormasoretischen Handschriften, besonders von Qumran, haben zur kritischen Sichtung und Verbesserung dieses Textes beigetragen.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V2</span><h5>2. Der griechische Text</h5>Die gesamte hebräische Bibel wurde für die Griechisch sprechenden Juden Ägyptens und des Mittelmeerraumes zwischen 250 und 100 v. Chr. von unbekannten Juden in Alexandria ins Griechische übersetzt und so im Gottesdienst der jüdischen Gemeinde von Alexandria verwendet. Diese Übersetzung soll nach der Überlieferung in siebzig Tagen von siebzig Männern verfertigt worden sein; darum erhielt sie den Namen: »(die Übersetzung der) Siebzig« oder einfach »Septuaginta« (LXX). Sie wird in der Einheitsübersetzung durch den Buchstaben G, d. h. Griechischer Text, gekennzeichnet. In diese griechische Übersetzung wurden auch die sog. deuterokanonischen Bücher aufgenommen (s. Einleitung in das Alte Testament).<br>Im 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr. entstanden weitere griechische Übersetzungen, vor allem die des Aquila, des Symmachus und des Theodotion, die bisweilen auch in der Einheitsübersetzung berücksichtigt werden.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V3</span><h5>3. Die lateinischen Übersetzungen</h5>Schon ab 150 n. Chr. entstehen in Nordafrika und Südfrankreich lateinische Übersetzungen, die man Vetus Latina (die Altlateinische) nennt. Diese Texte sind heute nur noch z. T. erhalten. Ab 390 n. Chr. schuf der hl. Hieronymus im Auftrag von Papst Damasus I. eine Übersetzung des Alten Testaments aus dem Hebräischen, da die früheren Übersetzungen aus der Septuaginta sehr fehlerhaft waren. Seine Übersetzung erhielt später den Namen Vulgata (Vg), d. h. die allgemein Verbreitete (Übersetzung). Sie gewann in der katholischen Kirche große Bedeutung in Gottesdienst und Theologie und wurde vom Konzil von Trient 1546 als authentisch erklärt (vgl. auch unten, B. 2).<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V4</span><h5>4. Andere alte Textfassungen und Übersetzungen</h5>Für das Bemühen, die älteste Fassung des hebräischen bzw. griechischen Textes des Alten Testaments festzustellen, sind außerdem folgende alte Texte und Übersetzungen wichtig: der Samaritanische Pentateuch, die aramäischen Übersetzungen (Targume) sowie die Übersetzung ins Syrische (Peschitta, abgekürzt S). Diese Übersetzungen haben den hebräischen Text zur Grundlage; andere alte Übersetzungen (z. B. die altlateinische, die koptische, die äthiopische, die armenische, die gotische) geben die Septuaginta wieder.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V5</span><h5>5. Aramäische Teile des Alten Testaments</h5>Das Aramäische ist eine mit dem Hebräischen eng verwandte semitische Sprache. Seit der Zeit der Perserherrschaft (ab 540 v. Chr.) wird das Hebräische als Umgangssprache im jüdischen Volk vom Aramäischen allmählich verdrängt. Zur Zeit Jesu sprach das Volk in Palästina Aramäisch. In aramäischem Urtext sind folgende Teile des Alten Testaments abgefasst: Jer 10,11; Esra 4,8 - 6,18; 7,12-26; Dan 2,4 - 7,28.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><h4>B. Der Text des Neuen Testaments</h4><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V6</span><h5>1. Der griechische Text</h5>Die Schriften des Neuen Testaments wurden von Anfang an sehr oft abgeschrieben. Kein Buch der Alten Welt ist so gut bezeugt durch frühe Abschriften wie das Neue Testament. Leider kam es aber im Verlauf der Überlieferung zu vielen Veränderungen der ursprünglichen Texte, sowohl durch Hör- und Lesefehler bei Diktat und Nachschrift, als auch durch absichtliche Veränderungen stilistischer und inhaltlicher Art. Heute wird die Zahl der Textvarianten, d. h. der Textverschiedenheiten, unter den verschiedenen Handschriften des Neuen Testaments auf rund 200.000 geschätzt. Meist handelt es sich dabei um stilistische Abweichungen, nur in verhältnismäßig wenigen Fällen um Sinnvarianten.<br>Schon in den ersten christlichen Jahrhunderten setzten aber Bestrebungen ein, die ursprünglichen Textfassungen wiederherzustellen und zu sichern. Durch eine große Zahl von Textzeugnissen seit dem 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr. und durch die gründliche Erforschung der verwickelten Geschichte der Textüberlieferung, ist der griechische Text des Neuen Testaments heute wissenschaftlich vollauf gesichert. Der Text der wissenschaftlichen Ausgaben entspricht jener Textform, die zu einem großen Teil um die Mitte des 2. Jahrhunderts bestand.<br>Die Einheitsübersetzung setzt die Ergebnisse der wissenschaftlichen Erforschung des Textes voraus und weist dort, wo wichtige, voneinander abweichende Textzeugnisse vorliegen, auf diese hin. Da die Textausgaben des Neuen Testaments nach dem Aufkommen des Buchdrucks in Verse eingeteilt wurden, der damalige griechische Text aber wissenschaftlich noch nicht voll gesichert war, finden sich in dieser Übersetzung auch Hinweise auf Verse, die nicht zum Urtext gehörten und daher lediglich in den Fußnoten abgedruckt werden.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V7</span><h5>2. Die altlateinischen Übersetzungen und die Vulgata</h5>Schon seit dem 2. Jahrhundert kam es zu Übersetzungen ins Syrische, Koptische und Lateinische. Diese Übersetzungen sind wichtig für die Erforschung des ursprünglichen griechischen Textes. Frühe lateinische Übersetzungen entstanden zuerst in Nordafrika und in Südfrankreich, dann in Italien. Diese wurden Altlateinische Übersetzungen (Vetus latina) genannt.<br>Papst Damasus I. gab 382 dem damaligen bedeutendsten Bibelgelehrten der lateinischen Kirche, Hieronymus, den Auftrag, einen einheitlichen, zuverlässigen Text der lateinischen Übersetzung zu schaffen. 384 legte Hieronymus eine überarbeitete Fassung der Evangelien vor. Ob er auch die übrigen Schriften des Neuen Testaments ähnlich überarbeitet hat oder ob andere dies taten, ist bis heute nicht geklärt. Die lateinische Übersetzung, die unter Papst Damasus in Rom gebraucht wurde (später Vulgata, d. h. die allgemein Verbreitete genannt), gewann im lateinischsprachigen Westen vorherrschende Bedeutung. Dazu trug der Rückgang der griechischen Sprachkenntnisse und die Trennung zwischen West- und Ostkirche maßgeblich bei.<br>Als die Reformatoren des 16. Jahrhunderts im Anschluss an die Humanisten wieder auf den griechischen Text zurückgriffen, erklärte das Konzil von Trient 1546 die »altehrwürdige, allgemeine (lateinische) Übersetzung, die durch so lange Jahrhunderte im Gebrauch der Kirche erprobt ist« als »authentisch«, d. h. für den kirchlichen Gebrauch maßgebend. Diese Übersetzung enthält zahlreiche Textvarianten gegenüber dem griechischen Originaltext, sodass die katholische Kirche heute sowohl für theologische Forschungen und Verlautbarungen wie auch für die Liturgie auf den griechischen Text zurückgreift.<br>Im Anschluss an das Zweite Vatikanische Konzil wurde im Auftrag der katholischen Kirche eine Nova Vulgata geschaffen, welche die Vulgataübersetzung des Alten und des Neuen Testaments anhand des hebräischen und griechischen Grundtextes überprüfte und auch stilistisch überarbeitete. Papst Johannes Paul II. hat sie am 15. April 1979 veröffentlicht und bestimmt, die Neue Vulgata solle überall dort verwendet werden, wo die Kirche biblische Texte in lateinischer Sprache gebraucht (z. B. römische Liturgie).<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V8</span><h5>3. Der Text der Einheitsübersetzung</h5>Das Zweite Vatikanische Konzil erlaubte den Gebrauch der Muttersprache in der Liturgie und beschloss, die Schriftlesung reicher und mannigfaltiger auszugestalten. Zugleich empfahl es, neue Bibelübersetzungen aus den Ursprachen zu schaffen, wo möglich gemeinsam mit den nichtkatholischen Christen. Deswegen fußt die Einheitsübersetzung auf den hebräischen und aramäischen (Altes Testament) und auf den griechischen (deuterokanonische Bücher des Alten Testaments, Neues Testament) Grundtexten und hat die Vulgataübersetzung nicht in besonderer Weise berücksichtigt.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">K3V1</span><h3>III. DIE ZÄHLUNG UND ÜBERSETZUNG DER PSALMEN</h3>Die Zählung der Psalmen weicht in den hebräischen Handschriften<br>von der Zählung in den griechischen und lateinischen (G und Vg) Handschriften ab. Da die Einheitsübersetzung den hebräischen Text zugrunde legt, folgt sie auch der hebräischen Zählung. DIE ÖKUMENISCHEN TEILE</h3>Im Auftrag des Rates der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland und des Evangelischen Bibelwerks in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland wirkten evangelische Fachleute der Bibel, der Liturgik, der Kirchenmusik und der deutschen Sprache gleichberechtigt an der Übersetzung der Psalmen und des Neuen Testaments mit.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V2</span>An der Übersetzung der übrigen Teile des Alten Testaments waren auf Einladung der katholischen Auftraggeber auch evangelische Fachleute der früheren Württembergischen Bibelanstalt in Stuttgart und der Evangelischen Michaelsbruderschaft beteiligt. Doch wurden diese Teile von der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland nicht ausdrücklich als ökumenisch verbindlich anerkannt.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">K5V1</span><h3>V. MASSE, GEWICHTE UND MÜNZEN</h3>Maße, Gewichte und Münzen werden heute nach mathematisch festgelegten Einheiten errechnet, die in einem Bezugssystem zueinander stehen. In der Frühzeit stützten sich die sozialen Gemeinschaften auf Festlegungen, die ihren Vergleichspunkt in der konkreten Erfahrung hatten. So wurden zum Beispiel Längenmaße nach Arm und Hand, Flächen nach der Zeit, die man brauchte, sie zu bearbeiten (Tagwerk) oder nach der benötigten Saatmenge bestimmt, Entfernungen nach der Zeit, die man braucht, um sie zurückzulegen (Tagesmarsch).<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V2</span>Bei Maßen und Gewichten wird im Alten Testament zwischen königlichen und gewöhnlichen Einheiten unterschieden; eine königliche Elle etwa ist größer als eine gewöhnliche. Es ließ sich bisher nicht klären, ob die Bezeichnung »königlich« sich auf die Festsetzung der Wertgarantie (Eichmaß) durch den König bezieht oder auf Abgaben und Steuern, die nach dieser Bemessung zu leisten waren.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V3</span>Die hier in Frage kommenden Begriffe bezeichnen in verschiedenen Perioden des Alten Testaments unterschiedliche Größen, je nach dem Herkunftsort (Babylonien, Ägypten, Griechenland, Rom, Ortsgegebenheiten) der einzelnen Zählsysteme. Diese verschiedenen Systeme wurden teilweise auch gleichzeitig benutzt. Die einzelnen Maßeinheiten entsprachen jedoch bei den einzelnen Völkerschaften des Vorderen Orients und der Mittelmeerwelt in etwa einander. Eine Übertragung in die heutigen Zahlen- und Maßsysteme ergibt nur Annäherungswerte.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V4</span><h5>1. Gewichte und Münzen</h5>Schon in der Frühzeit erkannte man den Eigenwert edler und seltener Metalle; sie sind als Tauschobjekt begehrt und für Handel und Stadtkultur leicht verwendbar (vgl. die »Viehwährung« der Nomadenkultur). Metalle wog man mit Steingewichten auf einfachen Waagen. Die Metallwährung bildet das Zwischenglied zwischen dem Tauschhandel und der Geldwirtschaft. Das Verhältnis Gold-Silber war etwa 1:13. Gold- und Silberstücke wurden in Barren, als Schmuck (mit Gewichtsstempel) und vom 7. Jahrhundert an als geprägte Münzen gebraucht. Das Wort Silber wurde zur Bezeichnung für Geld schlechthin (vgl. das französische »argent«). Die ersten uns überhaupt bekannten Münzen wurden um das Jahr 630 v. Chr. in Lydien (heute West-Türkei) aus Weißgold (Elektrum) verfertigt. Im Alten Testament werden Münzen erst in nachexilischen Texten erwähnt. Die älteste auf dem kanaanäischen Boden gefundene Münze ist eine griechische Tetradrachme (Mitte des 6. Jahrhunderts). Als älteste jüdische Münze ist ein Halbschekel aus dem 5. Als Währung, die seit 538 in den persischen Provinzen Palästinas in Umlauf war, sind im Alten Testament erwähnt: Golddariken (1 Chr 29,7; Esra 2,69; 8,27; Neh 7,69-71) und Silberschekel (Neh 5,15), wobei die Goldmünzen von der persischen Zentralmacht, die Silbermünzen von der Provinzregierung geprägt waren. Daneben waren auch die Währungen anderer Staaten gültige Zahlungsmittel. Die Hafenstadt Tyrus begann schon etwa 450 v. Chr. eigene Münzen (Statér) zu prägen. Diese Währung phönizischen Standards galt bis 331; in diesem Jahr führte Alexander der Große in seinem Reich eine einigermaßen einheitliche Währung ein, u. a. Tetradrachmen und Doppeldrachmen attischen Standards. Nach einem Dreivierteljahrhundert ptolemäischer und einem Dreivierteljahrhundert seleuzidischer Prägung lieferte Tyrus ab 125 v. Chr. wieder Tetradrachmen, Doppeldrachmen und Drachmen phönizischen Standards (Schekel, Halbschekel, Viertel-Silberschekel) mit einem sehr stabilen Feingehalt, im Gegensatz zu den seleuzidischen (Syrien) und ptolemäischen (Ägypten) Währungen, die laufend weniger Eigenwert haben (der Metallfeingehalt ist Mitte des 1. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. bis auf 30 Prozent des ursprünglichen Werts abgesunken). Daher galt die tyrische Währung als einzig gültiges Tempelsteuerzahlmittel. Nach 1 Makk 15,6 wurde dem Makkabäer Simeon (143-135) das Münzrecht zugestanden. Die makkabäische Währung ist durchwegs aus Bronze und ohne Wertangabe. Die Römer, Herrscher in Palästina seit 64 v. Das galt auch für den Sabbat (7. Tag = Freitagabend bis Samstagabend). Der Lichttag wurde in zwölf Stunden eingeteilt, von Sonnenaufgang gerechnet bis Sonnenuntergang. Die Nacht wurde zunächst in drei, dann unter römischem Einfluss in vier Nachtwachen (zu je »drei« Stunden) eingeteilt.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V3</span>Der Monat wurde von Neumond an gerechnet und bestand aus neunundzwanzig oder dreißig Tagen.<span class="br-p"><br><br></span><span class="xa xa-s" style="-bmc-xa-mfchi-control: control;">V4</span>Das Jahr war ein Mondjahr zu 353 bis 355 Tagen, das man etwa jedes dritte Jahr durch Einschub eines Schaltmonats auf das Sonnenjahr abstimmte. Bis zum Babylonischen Exil begann das bürgerliche und das kultische Jahr mit dem Monat Nisan, das wirtschaftliche Jahr mit dem Monat Tischri. Biblische Feste und Festzeiten</h5>Die Feste im Allgemeinen haben sich aus drei Grundmotiven entwickelt, nämlich aus der Erinnerung:<br>1. an die ständige Wiederkehr der Ereignisse in der Natur (Ernte, Schafschur);<br>2. an bedeutsame Ereignisse im Familienleben (Entwöhnung des Kindes, Hochzeit) und<br>3. an geschichtliche Ereignisse im Leben des Volkes.<br>Mit der Zeit verbanden sich bei einigen Festen einige verschiedene Motive (vgl.
